**JUNELL & ASSOCIATES IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING ROUNDUP CLIENTS**

What is the Roundup® Litigation?

The popular weed-killing product Roundup® uses a chemical called glyphosate as its main herbicide.  In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified glyphosate as a “probable carcinogen.”  Before that, many people—agricultural workers especially—only suspected that glyphosate exposure was causing cancer, but IARC’s designation increased the likelihood substantially.

Glyphosate in Roundup is a probable carcinogen

Lawsuits are now being filed against Monsanto, Roundup®’s manufacturer, by people who have had the following:

  1. Sustained exposure to glyphosate, and
  2. A diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL).

All types of NHL are being considered, including multiple myeloma, B-cell lymphoma, hairy-cell leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), among others.

What is the Link Between Glyphosate and Cancer?

IARC, the gold-standard cancer research arm of the World Health Organization (WHO), published a report in 2015 based on multiple, large case-controlled studies of NHL from the US, Canada and Europe.  The report declared that there was “significant increased risks of [NHL] in association with exposure to glyphosate.”

As a result, IARC issued their final health assessment and classified glyphosate as a Group 2A agent, meaning it is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”  This is significant because it confirms what many previously believed: Roundup® is not only toxic, but anyone exposed to it over a prolonged period of time run a very real risk of significant health problems, including NHL and any of its subtypes.

Monsanto disputes IARC’s assessment, of course, and markets Roundup® as safe.

Glyphosate used agriculturally can cause NHL in users

What Should You Do?

If you have been exposed to Monsanto’s Roundup® for a prolonged period of time, either through inhalation or skin contact, and you now have been diagnosed with NHL, then you need to speak with an attorneyAgricultural workers are particularly at risk because of the increased levels of glyphosate used industrially.  Also at risk are warehouse workers, landscapers, and others who have had a sustained exposure to Roundup®.
