A tort is a civil (as opposed to a criminal) wrong committed by one person that results in injury to another person. A mass tort is a single tort that results in injury to many victims, and therefore involves numerous plaintiffs suing one defendant (or several defendants) who acted negligently.

The United States Food and Drug Administration has issued a warning regarding the use of transvaginal surgical mesh to treat POP, noting that thousands of women have reported serious complications, including (but not limited to) organ perforation, extreme physical pain, bleeding, various types of infection, and urinary incontinence.
Recent studies have raised concerns that Paxil may cause cardiac, pulmonary and other birth defects in infants whose mothers took Paxil during pregnancy. Information developed in recent studies reviewed by the FDA showed that women who took Paxil during pregnancy were one and a half to two times as likely to have a baby with a heart defect.
On February 6, 2014, General Motors (GM) recalled about 800,000 of its small cars due to faulty ignition switches, which could shut off the engine during driving and thereby prevent the airbags from inflating. The fault had been known to GM for at least a decade prior to the recall being declared.
